The system uses a roller mechanism similar to the mechanisms used for retractable awnings. The vinyl screen is raised and lowered manually with a crank handle and rolls around the upper tube. A bottom profile is attached to the lower edge and is secured to fitted hooks when the awning is fully lowered. To retract the screen, the profile is released from the hooks and the vinyl is rolled back up.
