In Pazardzhik, there are people who don’t just talk about change – they make it happen. One of them is our dear friend **Vanya Ivanova** – a woman with a big heart and even greater dedication to nature and our community.

For years, Vanya and her team have been planting trees, nurturing a love for nature in children, and proving that with dedication and action, anyone can leave a positive mark.

We are always ready to support this cause whenever it needs us – because we believe that good ideas deserve to grow and flourish. In the following lines, we’ll share more about the initiative itself, along with Vanya’s own words that best capture the meaning and power behind **“Heart in Green.”**


I am **Vanya Ivanova**, and **“Heart in Green”** is my inspiration, my cause, and my way of giving back to the world a little of what life has given me.

It all began with a personal struggle – my father Dinyo Ivanov’s battle with the cruel disease called cancer. The pain, fear, and helplessness I felt led me to find a way to turn darkness into light. That’s how **“Heart in Green”** was born – a cause that, with each passing year, finds more and more people willing to give it a piece of their heart.

Seven years later, this initiative has grown into a national festival – the only charitable festival in Bulgaria created by people, for nature. Dozens of volunteers take part, and most importantly, children are among the most active supporters. They plant trees, learn to love nature, and become its true guardians.

Throughout the years, I have never been alone. The Japanese Embassy and “Heart in Green” Unite for Earth Day

On April 22, 2025, in celebration of Earth Day, an important event took place in Pazardzhik, organized by the **“Heart in Green”** cause and its founder, **Ivanka Ivanova**.

Special guests of the initiative included Mr. Takayuki Shinozawa, Counselor and Deputy Head of the Japanese Embassy, and Mr. Kento Muraki, Cultural Attaché, who joined the Mayor of Pazardzhik Municipality in supporting the planting of 16 new Japanese cherry trees in “Stadiona” Park. These trees add to the already growing mini cherry blossom grove – a symbol of beauty and the connection between people and nature.

The event welcomed 270 children from schools and kindergartens across the Pazardzhik region, who enthusiastically participated in the tree planting. Takayuki Shinozawa personally planted one of the trees alongside the young volunteers, showing solidarity and support for the initiative.

With each new cherry tree, *“Heart in Green”* leaves a lasting mark on the city, inspiring future generations to love and protect the natural world.


The Students of PGIM – An Inseparable Part of “Heart in Green”

For seven years now, the students of the Vocational High School of Economics and Management (PGIM) in Pazardzhik have been key members and partners in organizing the “Heart in Green” cause.

Part of their involvement includes educational tours focused on environmental protection and the importance of planting and caring for trees. These tours take place in kindergartens across the Pazardzhik region, where PGIM students inspire and teach younger children how to love and protect nature.

With each passing year, their role in the cause becomes increasingly important, proving that young people can be true drivers of positive change.
